Impostor syndrome, or self-calling cannot be avoided, but what you need to know!
The theme of the impostor is becoming more and more relevant in an era when skills and professional skills increasingly have to be adjusted to the needs of reality or new conditions of survival. Analysts predict far from reassuring prospects for us – that each person, on average, will change the profile of his activity up to eight times in his life. So, every person will sooner or later face the impostor syndrome, and this cannot be avoided. What to do and how to be psychologically prepared for these changes?
Consider several factors that theoretically help to minimize the destructive effects of this process on the psyche:
1. The most important thing is desire. If you want to penetrate deeply into a new process and explore it, this will already shorten the path to the heights of a new calling.
2. Find a worthy master, so that, following his skill, accept both his thinking and worldview in a particular area.
3. Look into the depths and fundamentals: when there is a feeling that you have found the beginning of the thread, it is easier to create a ball of skill.
4. Time! The most important thing in mastery is the number of hours spent on a new thing. The average is 4000 hours.
5. Experience and samples. Painful, but necessary. As often as possible, at every opportunity, grind yourself like a pro. Use every chance.
6. Become your own among professionals. Find an environment of people where your competencies will be considered by others, preferably in a friendly and supportive way.
7. Designate a zone of your development, and gradually expand it, trying new facets of the chosen activity.
8. Doubt. Doubts and internal criticism are a sign of the path to professionalism. But if you are too confident and peremptory – this is a sad fact.
9. Compare yourself only to yourself! Everyone has different starting points and different conditions.
10. Find something in which your personal qualities will intersect with professional ones. This cool helps to find your niche in the future in the field of established pros.
So we all need to remember a number of conditions so as not to harm ourselves, not yet strong and tender, at a new stage of development.
