The author of the term “puppet therapy” can no longer be found, but it is known that the practice of treatment with puppets itself has existed for a long time. For example, neuropathologist Malcolm Wright from Wales as early as 1926 used puppetry and puppetry to relieve vaccine-related neuroses in children. However, this does not prevent pseudoscientific publications from time to time from publishing “sensational articles” about the creation of this method “literally three days ago” by some Lefty from psychology.
Puppet therapy can be used in different areas of psychotherapy: psychodrama, game therapy, fairy tale therapy and art therapy.
What does puppet therapy treat?
Dolls help develop natural abilities, imaginative thinking, memory, emotional sphere, self-awareness and self-control. They contribute to the formation of positive attitudes, emotional and motor adequacy, communication skills.
ukly treat fears, enuresis and stuttering, help in the social rehabilitation of the disabled, allow you to find internal reserves to fight the disease.
As a side effect, doll therapy helps to cope with bronchial asthma, diathesis and cardiovascular diseases.
A healing session sometimes works strangely: many people “get sick.” They get sick with dolls – and even open their own courses and circles, move on to more complex techniques (for example, porcelain).
Art therapy is divided into expressive (or active), if the patient creates himself, and impressive (passive), if the patient “consumes” art. With this approach, puppet shows are also art therapy. Again, sometimes puppet shows are preceded by the creation of props.
