Color must be seen, unfortunately not everyone is capable of it, I suggest smelling colors and thus creating drawings. Loss of vision makes color perception impossible, and if a child is not able to see from birth, then it is extremely difficult to form an understanding of color. I want to offer a system of acquaintance with color with the help of smells. For colors that are close in the spectrum, such as warm tones, you can suggest smells that are also close in nature. So, for example, yellow – lemon, orange – orange, red – grapefruit. The colors of the cold spectrum display opposite smells. Also, such a system of acquaintance with color can be used for autistic children or when an art therapist works with such forms of pathologies, when it is difficult to form the necessary sensory standards. Fragrant paints are quite easy to make. Add 5-7 drops of natural essential oil to a 30 ml jar of paint. Thus, a person without vision can mix paints and create drawings. The use of fragrant paints is useful for the development of the right hemisphere of the brain after injuries or surgical interventions.
Scheme that can be applied:
orange oil – orange
Bergamot oil – gray
Birch tar oil – black
Clove oil – blue
Grapefruit oil – red
Spruce needles oil – green
Cinnamon bark oil – brown
Lemon oil – yellow
Chamomile oil – white
Lavender oil – purple
Before starting work, check whether all smells can be perceived by the client, if possible, try to make fragrant paints together with the client according to his personal choice of smell and color associations.
