In a year, you can already buy your baby the first simple baby doll. But up to two years, children do not distinguish dolls among other toys. They throw her, hold her by the hair, then by the leg.
At 3-4 years old, the child already begins to realize that the doll is a special toy. The girl with special enthusiasm swaddles and bathes her “children” (baby dolls) or dresses up big beauty dolls.
By the age of 5, the child begins to identify with the doll, to dream about it, to love some dolls more than others. The older preschool age, with its more complex role-playing games, requires already improved dolls. Role-playing games in daughter-mothers are played with special enthusiasm. “Complicated” baby dolls who can do a lot will do: they are fed, watered, their diapers are changed, they are put on a potty, etc. Just make sure that the doll with such almost childish features is not stuffed with electronics, does not resemble a demanding Tamagotchi pet or a real child, reacting to every movement of his little “mother”. Can a boy play with dolls?
Not only can, it is very desirable that he plays them without meeting the negative reaction of his parents. Unfortunately, having become interested in the “girl’s toy”, the male baby very quickly realizes that adults do not like it very much – and will completely switch to pistols, cars and designers. Meanwhile, both boys and girls need dolls literally from infancy. First, tumblers and nesting dolls, then baby dolls, which you need to take care of, simultaneously mastering the skills of dressing, developing rituals of feeding and putting to bed. Boys a little over a year old show the same interest in dolls as in their “vehicles” – strollers. Then, at 2-3 years old, the era of story games begins, and small dolls, preferably a family, should be in the toy box. Well, if they are mobile and heterosexual. At 4-5 years old, the turn of role-playing dolls comes – soldiers, firefighters, etc. It is desirable that the dolls of boys look like boys and are outwardly close to him in age. After all, a doll is a friend and a kind of spokesman for the needs of the child, with the help of which he learns to communicate, understand himself and others.
Unlike girls, boys do not need a large set of utensils and accessories for dolls. It will be much more interesting for a boy to diversify the minimum set of dishes and furniture with the help of designers or cubes.
Is it possible to do without purchased dolls?
Traditional homemade toys are made from the most natural materials – wood, wool, straw, natural fabrics. They leave the child more room for imagination: a simple patch turns into his fantasies in a luxurious dress, and a stylized “pointed” face or a complete absence of features help to imagine the doll as both a beautiful princess and a courageous knight. Some educators (for example, supporters of the Waldorf method) believe that such simple toys correspond to the nature of the child as much as possible and bring him the greatest benefit. But still, you should not completely deprive the baby of standard purchased dolls, because he lives in society, among other children. Against the background of the owners of Barbie, the owner of homemade products will feel awkward.
Are any monsters good for kids?
It is believed that in games with humanoid monsters, children cope with natural fears. Also, the “bogeymen”, traditionally performing the functions of negative characters, help the baby to throw out natural aggression and accumulated negativity. But sometimes the imagination of manufacturers goes wild, and such monsters appear that even parents are scared to look at. Any doll (from a baby doll to a soldier and a humanoid zombie) is an image of a person. The kid involuntarily identifies himself with his toy, creates his own ideas about the world of people. The picture of the real world can be shaken if the baby tries to populate it with spider people or superhero bats.
However, not only aliens, vampires and other monsters can be harmful to the child’s psyche, but also ordinary, at first glance, harmless baby dolls with unnecessary anatomical details or dolls with disturbed body proportions. The age of the player must also be taken into account: a doll that is good for an inquisitive schoolchild (for example, a “pregnant doll” with a collapsible belly and a child inside) can cause psychological trauma to a younger child. In general, the expression of her eyes sometimes speaks about whether a doll is good or bad. A good children’s toy cannot have evil eyes.
Is Barbie good or bad?
Some psychologists believe that playing with a beauty and a fashionista, girls learn to take care of themselves. Others: the proportions of the doll are unrealistic, “inhuman”, no girl will ever achieve such proportions. The result is an inferiority complex and nutritional problems in adolescent girls. In England, for example, they began to slowly bring dolls similar to Barbie closer to the appearance of a plump teenage girl. In Israel, Barbie was completely banned and replaced with more realistic-looking dolls. By the way, in the same place, children’s games are regulated almost by law, in any case, the right of boys to play with dolls has recently become an obligatory element of education and training.
Which doll is safe for a child?
Toys are evaluated in terms of environmental cleanliness, pedagogical aspect and psychology. The purchased doll cannot smell bad, paint must not peel off it, it must be made of quality materials. The psychological aspect suggests that the emotions evoked by dolls must be positive. From the point of view of pedagogy, it is important what the doll will teach and what qualities it will develop in the baby. The aesthetic moment is also essential, the toy must correspond to a certain ideal of beauty. In addition, each toy – and the doll is no exception – must be appropriate for the age of the child.
Pay attention to the following points:
– the doll must be strong, it must not be easy to break;
– she should not have small details and long laces in her clothes;
– the paint must be non-toxic and very durable;
– it is important that the doll can be washed or washed regularly in a typewriter, because small children put everything in their mouths;
– Does the doll make loud noises that can frighten the child?
Should I scold the child if he broke the doll?
For preschool children, a natural stage in the development of cognition is curiosity about how a toy works, how it works. But such a model of behavior is more characteristic of boys and only in relation to inanimate objects, for example, cars. Girls, on the other hand, can paint a doll, cut her hair, but they will never climb inside: for them this is a very frightening sight, and if a “misfortune” happens to a doll (an eye falls out, an arm or leg comes off, eyelashes come off) – this usually causes a sea of ​​​​tears and is remembered for a lifetime. Including because, as already mentioned, the child identifies himself with his doll, and the words “doll hurts” are not an empty phrase for him. So if a five-year-old accidentally broke her beloved “girlfriend”, do not scold her – the girl needs comfort.
