Monotype

Exercise

Monotype is drawing on glass, followed by printing on paper, then drawing with any materials, adding volume, adding a collage, making a frame.
This technique can be used both in individual and group work.
Tasks: spontaneous self-expression, actualization of feelings and removal of psycho-emotional stress, development of variability of thinking, perception, creativity.
Necessary materials: glass or plexiglass measuring 15 x 20 cm (Before using glass, its edges must be well processed for safety reasons), gouache (preferably fresh, liquid), brush, paper, rags for wiping hands.
Progress of work: Children are invited to draw something on glass with gouache, then print the drawing on paper. Children should pay attention to what is visible through the glass in the process of printing a pattern on paper, how colors are mixed, what new colors are obtained, how the pattern changes. Next, the psychologist invites the children to finish the monotype with paints, felt-tip pens or pencils to some image, make a frame for the resulting picture, come up with a name for the picture and a short story about it.
The results of monotyping, when carried out in a group, are discussed. Although this is not necessary and depends on the level of development of reflection in children. Sometimes the psychologist is limited to comments.
There are other options for using this technique:
1. reduce the material in order to unite the group and observe group interaction;
2. create a group monotype on whatman paper and then jointly draw it up to some kind of image.
3. to develop perception, children are first invited to use one color in a monotype, gradually adding other colors and their combination is analyzed.
