Often, we are very scared and there is a need to quickly bring ourselves back to normal and regulate the condition.
I bring to your attention a very simple and useful metaphor for self-regulation. Can be used from 4 to 120 years old.
Draw so many crocodiles on a piece of paper that they can eat your fear and imagine that you feed them with this fear. As soon as they are full, the crocodiles swim away and so does your fear. You can try and draw fear itself in the form of doodles.
Here is such a technique, almost like a child’s game, try and write how this form of creative self-regulation worked for you.
