How to send thoughts on temporary leave

Even the Labor Code says that a person has the right to leave. He cannot work without stopping all the time – he is entitled to honestly earned rest. All this applies not only to a person, but also to his thoughts.

We suggest taking care of your thoughts and taking a break for them. You will see, when they return, they will look “tanned” and “refreshed”.

Run thoughts backwards

In the evening, scroll through the whole day in reverse order. For example, if you are lying in bed and trying to fall asleep, but thoughts do not give, then imagine the following: here you are walking backwards, brushing your teeth, washing your face, watching a movie backwards, having dinner also back (that is, food is added to the plate), returning to work, work, then home again, breakfast and wake up in bed again. The main thing here is to fully surrender to the process. As events unwind, your brain will clear and you will fall asleep like a baby.

Physical activity in the form of running

An ideal option in nature and alone. Focus your attention on the sensations in your body. This is the key to success. You have to run for a long time, so after a while such monotony of movements begins to take precedence over the intricacies of your thoughts, which are temporarily turned off as unnecessary.

Try to write down your thoughts

There will be a lot of discoveries during this session. The algorithm of actions is approximately the following: take a piece of paper and go with it to the back room. Close the door behind you, sit down and start writing down everything that comes to mind. After a few recordings, you will begin to think that you have clear signs of insanity, then diagnose yourself. And after a while you will have a pause, thoughts will stop “want” to come to you. When you see an empty sheet, feel this state.

Sometimes, in order for thoughts to go away, you have to reach the limit of tension. An oriental koan is a good example. A koan is a paradoxical statement or a question that helps to go beyond the limit of thinking. At first glance, it may seem absurd, but this is the whole effect. Here are some options:

When I’m gone, who is?
The master told the student: “If you have a staff, I will give it to you. If you don’t have a staff, I’ll take it from you.”
When you can’t do anything – what can you do?
If the interlocutor with whom you are talking is only your own thought about the interlocutor, then with whom are you talking?

Choose which one you like more. At some point, the brain will throw a white flag!

Focus on the breathing process

Use your breath to keep your mind from thinking. Feel each breath fill your lungs, then feel it leave your body. You are aware of the breathing process, but you do not think about it. Let the feeling of the breath take over your entire mind. And suddenly stop breathing. At this moment there will be no thoughts. Now you can breathe again!

Answer your thoughts

When a thought comes, just tell it, “Hello and bye!” It’s just a thought that has come and gone. If she comes back, the procedure must be repeated. The less you cling to a thought, the less energy you give it. The less she has the strength to come back again. Once she leaves her obsessive attempts, the main thing at the same time is to remain calm and accepting.

Imagine you don’t have a head

Sounds pretty absurd, but this is one of the most useful exercises. Try it and you will see for yourself. Make it seem like you don’t have a head. At first you will feel very strange, it will cause a strange feeling, but gradually you will begin to “move” in the heart. You will begin to see the world through your heart and not through your head, and that is a completely different story.
