1. The first rule to consider when choosing a hobby for a child is to ask the child what he wants to do himself. When choosing, do not resist and do not take into account the opinion of relatives, friends, neighbors, the prestige and image of the section chosen by the child. After all, only a child knows better what he wants.
2. Create an idea for the child about the possible options for classes, try attending classes to get acquainted, wake up with the child at rehearsals in different circles, watch videos of children’s performances, this will help expand the circle of their own ideas about what he wants to do. Because it shapes his future life, character and future.
3. Play a game with your child: “What are the children of the world doing?” make cards that show all the possible hobbies of children. These photos can be found on the Internet. And let the child tell you his opinion on each card. To the question:
Did I enjoy doing the same thing?
What do I have that will help or hinder in this matter?
How will this case help me in my adult life?
How can I, as an adult, tell my children about my hobby?
4. Offer the child a choice of four or five options for sections or circles, this will allow the child to feel his own responsibility, provide self-respect and once again emphasize his personal significance and adulthood.
5. Let the child try himself. So, we formulate the following rule as follows: “Six months to search for your favorite things.” In order for the child to feel the influence of any section or circle, it is worth giving the child a try to attend these classes at least five times, to introduce the child to the atmosphere and leader. And then everything will be decided, and, by the way, the child will explain to you why he wants or does not want to join this circle.
6. Fantasize with your child on the topic: “I will become the best …… ..”. This can be done, even in the form of a drawing, invite the child to imagine a situation where he has already achieved significant success in his studies and let him illustrate this on paper.
7. The following rule can be conditionally called: “The historical search for the roots of a hobby in the family.” Try to ask grandparents with your child about what they did in childhood, what they liked to do. Such an excursion into one’s family tree will form a certain identification with relatives in the child and help to decide.
8. Watch your child carefully, quite often, what a child does in his spare time can become his favorite thing. If a child always runs, you should think about athletics, if a child takes a pencil in his hand anyway, then try an art studio, whether he beats out the rhythm with a stick – you are in a music school.
9. Support each child’s choices, but don’t choose for them. After all, quite often what we impose on our children is our unfulfilled childhood dream. And parents, investing all their strength and all means, are trying to realize their dream at the expense of the life of their child.
10. The main rule is that a hobby for a child should be enjoyable. She should wait with interest and inspiration for the next lesson, rejoice at the meeting, success, on her own, without any violence, devote time to her favorite business. Only in this case the choice is made correctly. And it makes no difference whether the child will do this for six months or half a lifetime, the main thing is that he be happy. Every birth of a child deserves full happiness!
