“Puppet Therapy” Corrective classes according to the method of well-known educational psychologists T. Shishova and I. Medvedeva for children aged 5-9 years who have behavioral problems (fears, increased aggressiveness, shyness, self-will, etc.)
“Puppet therapy” is a correction of children’s problems by means of puppet theater (children play sketches with puppets according to specially designed scenarios that reflect the individual problems of a particular child).
•The work is built in close cooperation with parents.
•The course consists of 8 lessons.
•Before starting – an individual interview.
•Groups are formed of 5-6 people for children 5-7 years old and 7-9 years old.
The course is taught by teacher Irina Lvovna Shchukina.
Beginning of classes: from October 12, on Sundays.
About the methodology. T.L. Shishova and I.Ya. Medvedeva are the authors of many books and publications on acute issues of growing up children in the modern world (“A book for difficult parents”, “Colorful white crows”, “So that the child is not difficult” and etc.)
T. Shishova and I. Medvedev called their corrective technique “dramatic psycho-elevation”. Psychoelevation is understood as “elevation of the soul” (overcoming of shortcomings). Playing individually selected or specially written theatrical sketches with puppets, children imperceptibly work on their problems and shortcomings, gradually turning them into virtues: stubbornness can be transformed into perseverance, an upstart learns to be a leader, a greedy one learns to be thrifty. This is the essence of the methodology.
For each lesson, children prepare 2 studies at home.
•First study. In the initial lessons, the child plays familiar situations (he took care of his sick mother; how the day went in kindergarten, etc.) – this helps the teacher clarify the child’s problems. Later, tasks become more difficult and interesting: you need to find a way out of a difficult situation or help the heroes of a fairy tale that you find yourself in.
• In the second etude, a glove toy is used – a Dog. Etudes about the Owner and the Dog is a very interesting and effective technique. The dog embodies the main characterological defect of the child (“pathological dominant”). As a rule, the mother plays the Dog in sketches, showing with her help the behavior of the child, and the Owner is the ideal, as if already elevated personality of the child. The owner, raising his Dog (his role is played by a child) and helping her behave correctly, educates himself.
Dear Parents! The success of our classes largely depends on your involvement in the correctional process! It is necessary to be inspired for 2 months of active cooperation both in the course of classes and in homework. Here is one example of homework.
Task for Alyosha K.
Etude 1. “Desert Island” (beginning).
Alyosha and mom end up on a desert island (how? – come up with something more interesting). Show how mom was worried and how Alyosha reassured her. Alyosha figured out how to make a hut, a fishing rod. (What else?) What did Mom and Alyosha come up with together to arrange their life on the island?
One evening, when mother and Alyosha went to bed, wild animals suddenly appeared near their dwelling, they roared menacingly. Mom was scared, but Alyosha figured out how to scare away the animals. (What did Alyosha come up with?) The animals got scared and left. In the morning, my mother praised and thanked Alyosha for his courage and resourcefulness.
Etude 2. “Competitions”
Once Alyosha and Druzhok were going to go to dog competitions, but Druzhok suddenly decides not to go, he is afraid to lose. Alyosha persuades him for a long time, but to no avail. Finally, Alyosha manages to change the situation. (What did Alyosha come up with?). Show how the competitions went and how Druzhka is awarded a medal.

Mom task.
• “Ladder of virtues” (describe the good qualities of the child, arranging them in order of importance).
•Describe how Alyosha reacts to difficulties, failures, what difficulties he tries to avoid, what he says and what is your reaction in these cases.
