Stress is an invariable part of development, which launches a new cycle of movement, and with it our potentials, reserves and capabilities of the psyche and body. Therefore, avoiding or fearing stress is directly avoiding life itself, the fundamental mechanism of its dynamics.
Let’s look at the best ways to deal with stress that will give you a chance to look at it in a new way. I will try to take metaphors from the animal world, since it is there that the key to successfully living through stress is hidden.
- Signal cry. Have you heard how the birds begin to scream, noticing the danger? Similarly, people on social networks are now imitating this process. And to issue a cry for help or a warning cry is completely logical. So your pack will give you support and help in any way they can. Don’t be afraid to say you need help. Accepting help is also perfectly normal.
- Secluded place. If there is a feeling that stress cannot be overcome, hide from everything and everyone, from tasks and needs, and wait. In this magical deprivation, an internal reassessment takes place, and you return to the new standards of old values, but with a reworked internal experience. Take your time, give yourself time to process the stress.
- Survival run. This tactic is also quite effective, but, alas, too energy-consuming. You can run fast, but not for long; it is important to have time to consider on the way where and with whom you can make a pit stop for refueling. In such tactics, the result of getting out of stress will be quick, but, alas, the rollback is long.
- Mutation. Constant stay in unusual and uncomfortable conditions, if not kills, then provokes mutations of living organisms. And so we, if we have successfully passed the adaptation to stress, mutate, testing our limiting possibilities to change into the zone of new forms of survival. So any living species changed and survived. It always amazes me how a wolf could become a pug.
- Fight: survive or die. Another popular tactic in the animal kingdom is wrestling. But here’s what I can say for sure: if an animal sees that the enemy is stronger, it doesn’t even try to fight. Correct assessment of oneself is one of the first indicators of the mind. That’s why I’m writing this: before you start something, realistically evaluate your resources to win. And here, as in the proverb: the smart one will cope, the wise one will not even undertake it. Often we experience stress from the fact that we did not take our dose of exercise.
- The strength of the group. A very relevant system of survival in stressful conditions: the larger the pride, the greater the strength. And if you cannot overcome the stress alone, gather your pride, flock, family. This is how our ancestors experienced the stress of reality throughout time. A large group gives a completely new potential of forces.
- The surprise effect. Any known stressor often suggests a known response, but here’s the trick: our brain knows it and automatically triggers it. And if we consciously launch a different program of behavior and response, a conflict of perception of past experience is created, and we release a huge amount of resources for mastering a new experience for us in responding to stress. You know, when a prey in the animal kingdom behaves outside the box, the predator itself becomes afraid.
