Once upon a time, when people sincerely believed in miracles, and little children were told entertaining stories about fairies and elves. And the cherished desire of every child was to visit the Kingdom of Far Far Away.
In a small town in Italy, there lived a girl, and her name was Sophie. This name was given to her by her mother, who believed in magic with all her heart. Why Sophie? You ask … From Italian, this name means – “dream.”
And although Sophie had such a wonderful name, and was born in such a magical time, she did not know how to dream at all. She did not believe in fairy tales, stories about good wizards, and, even more so, it was completely unusual for her to soar in the clouds.
She lived quietly and calmly, looking around people with a wonderful look, “these strange people who only know what to dissolve in their dreams.”
But then, one fine day, walking along the long-familiar and ordinary streets, in the window of a souvenir shop, the girl saw a beautiful amphora.
The amphora was studded with precious stones, and when sunlight fell on it, it was buried in an amazing overflow of colors. It was such a beautiful sight that people passing by called it the Northern Lights.
Sophie was fascinated by this vase, but having a cold mind, she passed by without even asking how much this creation costs. The girl decided that no amount of her efforts would be enough to acquire this treasure.
Time passed, shops and signs changed, on long-familiar streets, only the amphora in the window of the souvenir shop remained unchanged.
And every time, passing by, the girl wondered: “Why won’t anyone buy it? It’s probably too expensive…
Sophie walked by almost every day, and did not know that this amphora was priceless. She was worth the whole dream, which the girl could not afford.
“Dreams are only worthy of the bold…”, the good sorceress who created this amphora liked to say.
