Creating collages based on drawings is an excellent integrated isotherapy technique that combines drawing and collage. The use of such techniques in the work of a psychologist makes it possible to obtain information that is significant for the correction of the group, which will become a fundamental point for the formation of an assistance strategy.
The purpose of the “Company” art collage technique is to create a psychological portrait of the group by each participant in the form of an art collage.
Materials needed for work:
1. Sheets of paper according to the number of participants in the group + 3 in size 10 X15 to create portraits of group members. Initially, the size of the sheets limits the ability to place all members of the group on a common A4 sheet, which requires the client to have a specific strategy for placing everyone on a common collage.
2. Personal sheet for each participant to create a common A4 collage.
3. High-quality felt-tip pens or wax pencils for drawing. There are no color restrictions, which also acts as a diagnostic component when analyzing the completed work.
4. Glue or double-sided tape and scissors for fixing portraits on a common sheet.
Instructions for the implementation of technology. Creating an art collage “Company” is a convenient form of sociometric diagnostics of a psychologist when working with a team. Each member creates their own art collage of the group. On separate sheets of paper, we draw in a simplified or comic image of all members of the group (family, class, work team, etc.), cut them out and place them on a separate common large sheet of A4 paper. All images are fixed on the sheet with double-sided tape or glue. This technique acts as an alternative form of analysis of relationships, as a method of sociometric analysis of status in a team. So the leaders are usually placed in the center of the sheet of paper. People with problems in adaptation, do not fit on the sheet or are heavily covered by images of other group members.
The psychologist receives a lot of information on the portrait representation of the participants and on the location on the general sheet. An important part of the analysis is the analysis of a possible neighborhood, which indicates the priority choice of this participant in relation to other members of the group. What is important to notice when working with the art collage “Company”:
– people who are depicted as the largest (a sign of significance and importance for the team of this person);
– people who are not depicted in the collage, but in reality participate in the life of the team (a sign of ignoring the person or being forced out of the collective space);
– who is depicted in detail, and who is symbolic;
– analysis of the color performance of the portrait;
– cutting images of certain group members
– comparing the work of the whole group
– analysis of the portrait of each of the participants can be carried out according to the drawing technique “Self-portrait”.
Questions for technique analysis:
1. How were the portraits created?
2. Whose portrait was difficult to create and whose was easy?
3. Which portrait did you like the most, and whose portrait failed?
4. Who would you like to change or redraw why?
5. What collages of the band members are similar and how?
6. What gave the group the performance of such a technique?
7. What did you learn about each other?
8. What conclusions can be drawn?
The implementation of such a technique acts as a psychological cut of relations in the team, and reveals secret, internal connections. Update important and necessary mechanisms of relationships to form a team for productive common activities. It is important to discuss problematic issues for the prevention of latent conflicts in the group.
