Travel has changed me

While living in Berlin, Franz Kafka used to walk in the park every day. There he once met a little girl who had lost her doll and was crying loudly. Kafka offered to help her in the search and meet at the same place the next day.

The famous writer, of course, did not find the doll. But he brought a letter written by him on her behalf. “Please don’t grieve my absence,” Franz read aloud. I went on a trip to see the world. I will write to you about all my adventures. The next few weeks they met in the park, and the writer read letters to the girl in which the doll described her trip in colors.

Soon Kafka had an exacerbation of tuberculosis, and he needed to go to a sanatorium in Vienna. Before this trip, which became the last for the writer, Kafka met the girl and presented her with a doll. She was completely different from the one that the girl had once lost. But there was a note attached to it: “Traveling has changed me.”
