TIME MANAGEMENT FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF SELF-REALIZATION

The pace of life in the modern world is characterized by increasing acceleration and swiftness. There are more and more cases, and we, remembering that “success means being in time”, strive to be in time as much as possible and preferably “on all fronts”. To do this, we study time management techniques, use diaries, draw up a schedule for the day and week (especially experienced ones also schedule the time allotted for each task). All this is really good and useful. However, it is sometimes worth stopping and thinking, are we missing something very important in the eternal time trouble, namely, where are we going and what exactly do we want to do in our lives?

The practice of time management or effective time management of one’s own life should begin with the questions: where am I going? What I need? What do I really want in my life? What is my life goal? What is the most important thing that I want to have time to do? Often, people in the daily bustle simply have no time to ask themselves these questions, and think carefully about the answers to them. However, this must be done. That is, proper time management (time management) begins with determining your own life goals, scheduling your long-term and short-term goals. It is based on your life goals that you should build your weekly and daily schedule. This will be a truly correct basis for the distribution of life time.

From the point of view of self-realization, actualization of one’s potential, such a time management technique as the Eisenhower Matrix is very useful. According to this methodology, all existing cases must be divided into four categories:

important and urgent matters (this includes, for example, the completion of projects that have a deadline, etc.);
important but non-urgent tasks (for example, planning new projects, setting new perspectives, preventive visits to the doctor, additional training, etc.);
unimportant but urgent matters (for example, repairing a broken water faucet, buying food, etc.);
unimportant and non-urgent matters (this includes watching feature films and entertainment series, computer games, etc.).
The most important from the point of view of realizing one’s potential is the second category of cases – important, but not urgent, because this includes cases of self-development, additional training, professional growth, and the achievement of long-term life goals. It is very important to gradually increase the proportion of those activities that are really directly related to your success and self-actualization. Set aside time every day for activities from this category, and qualitative positive changes in your life will not keep you waiting!
