Since ancient times, the circle has been one of the main symbols of the deity. Carl Gustav Jung was the first to introduce this word into Western philosophy. According to Jung, the mandala meant self, that is, the ultimate integrity and completeness of the mental. The Self is the controlling center of the psychic, that special center of the cyclone in which all opposites converge, and the source of psychic energy. The energy of this point manifests itself in an unstoppable impulse of becoming, the disclosure of oneself into this center is not felt as a self. The task of human spiritual growth is to establish a connection with this central point, the Self. Mandala is a symbol of integrity, deep potential, perfection of personality. Jung was the first to notice that mandalas appear spontaneously in dreams, visions, art, at those moments when a person approaches the desired integration of personality. Ancient mandalas illustrate the worship of the Sun and the Moon (images in caves, on stones, etc.). This worship was the first impetus that helped thinking rise above the instinctive level. The moon is an ancient symbol of change, death and resurrection (rebirth). Darkness plunged and again gave birth to a new creation, again and again – the idea of reincarnation. The moon was a goddess, the oldest symbol of female nature. The sun is a symbol of male nature, female inconstancy is also in the moon. The symbol of the whole life of the man-Moon: birth, maturity, old age, death and a new incarnation. The marriage of the sun and moon symbolizes the union of consciousness and the unconscious, ego and anima. As a result of such a marriage, Androgyne is born, one of whose symbols is the mandala.

Many religious rituals began with the consecration of a circle into which the deities were invited. All ancient sanctuaries are inscribed or represent a circle. Domes of temples are round. The Eskimos carve a circle on the stone for a long time to enter the sacred space. For many Indians, there was a ritual of spinning a carousel of belts, where the leg was fixed, then they jumped around the central pillar. The space inside the rituals of the circle becomes sacred, it changes from the ordinary, people, the creation of such a circle is a consecrated action. Thus, drawing mandalas, the space inside the circle is different than usual. Drawing a circle is an attempt to achieve resonance with the source of being. Therefore, the very fact that we place the images of our unconscious in a circle can start the transformation process.
Mandalas are certain maps of a person’s internal states. Later, they came to be used as guides to the states of consciousness that evoked them. The mandalas evoked such different visions of the inner reality. The mandala is a symbol of selfhood, individuality, the total integrity of the monad, it is the source of ourselves. According to Jung, “the self is like the monad that I am…” The mandala corresponds to the microcosm of my soul, we always go around in a circle, in a spiral, our self, never reaching it. But the return consists in moving towards the center of the self, the deep center, the MAH, the Self. It is and only the Self that generates the structure of our inner life.

The mandala unfolds the matrix in which our individuality emerges. The circle of the mandala unfolds the desire of the soul for self-realization, i.e. integrity. The mandala gives us strange, exotic, frightening secrets. The painted mandala is a kind of “photo of the soul”. If you are depressed, drawing a mandala is an opportunity to give feelings a figurative expression, and achieve catharsis, but if you are in an elevated state of mind, a drawn mandala can become an anchor that allows you to remember this state. Children discover mandalas very early. The art of children contains the forms of mandalas: circles, sun, circles with crosses, etc. Children draw mandalas at a certain period of age (3-4 years), which indicates the process of the formation of an individual Self, the creation of oneself. Mandala drawing helps children to establish self-identity, an inner need for self-orientation.

The ego always exists in relationship with the self. They have a rhythm, they are connected, then separated. And this rhythm governs the mental life of man. This is reflected in the forms of the mandalas. Each person will meet the Self. This is the need for the meaning of life, the pride of our ego. The self requires the establishment of this contact with its higher “I” – this is a dream, a vision (archetype) of the self – a luminous being. Drawing mandalas helps us to learn the language of the self, to build the axis of interaction between the Ego and the Self. Mandalas reveal what we are at the moment. Mandala is a mirror of ourselves, sacred. The form of the mandala has a reconciling, healing effect, gives a therapeutic effect. Mandala work is an active meditation for the purposes of personal growth of consciousness. This work is best done in solitude with respect for the truth of the moment. Self-discovery, personal growth, care and attention towards knowing who we really are is very important. Mandala drawing can be a daily spiritual practice.

[1000

post-26209","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-art-therapy
["GET
