Correction here means “replacing” an ineffective style of behavior with a more productive one, as well as explaining to the child the meaning of what is happening.
It must be said that the use of psycho-correctional fairy tales is limited by age (up to about 11-13 years old) and problems (inadequate, ineffective behavior).
It is not difficult to create a psycho-correctional fairy tale, and many writers, without realizing it themselves, compose them brilliantly.
Algorithm of a psycho-corrective fairy tale: 1. First of all, we select a hero who is close to the child in terms of gender, age, character.
2. Then we describe the life of the hero in a fairy-tale land in such a way that the child finds similarities with his own life.
3. Next, we place the hero in a problem situation similar to the real situation of the child, and we attribute to the hero all the experiences of the child.
4. The hero begins to look for a way out of this situation. Or we begin to aggravate the situation, bring it to its logical end, which also pushes the hero to change. The hero can meet creatures that find themselves in the same position and watch how they get out of the situation; he meets the “figure of a psychotherapist” – a wise mentor who explains to him the meaning of what is happening, etc. Our task, through fairy-tale events, is to show the hero the situation from the other side, to offer alternative models of behavior, to find a positive meaning in what is happening. “Seen in the right light, everything is good” – I would like to convey this wisdom to the child through a fairy tale.
5. The hero realizes his wrong and takes the path of change.
When creating psycho-corrective fairy tales, it is important to know the hidden reason for “bad” behavior. Usually there are five.

 A child misbehaves if: 1. Wants to draw attention to himself. In this case, the corrective fairy tale will contain models of socially acceptable, positive ways of attracting attention;
2. Wants to dominate the situation, adults, peers. At the same time, a positive model for the manifestation of leadership qualities can be proposed in a psycho-corrective fairy tale (because power is associated with pronounced leadership qualities): a good leader, first of all, takes care of his friends;
3. He wants to take revenge on an adult for something. At the same time, in the psycho-correctional fairy tale there is an indication of the hero’s distorted vision of the problem and a constructive model of behavior;
4. He is scared, anxious, he wants to avoid failure. In this case, the heroes of the correctional tale provide the main character with support and offer ways to overcome fear;
5. He has no sense of proportion. In this case, a psycho-corrective fairy tale can bring the situation to the point of absurdity, showing the consequences of the hero’s actions, and leaving the choice of behavior style to him.
Our life experience will help us in creating psycho-correctional fairy tales. After all, many situations have already been experienced by us in childhood and we can share this with the guys in a fabulous way.
A psycho-correctional fairy tale can simply be read to a child without discussion. Thus, we will give him the opportunity to be alone with himself and think. Even if he did not show enthusiasm for the fairy tale, it still got into his soul, and after a while his behavior will change. We can only wait.
If the child wants, you can discuss a fairy tale with him, formulate a “fairy lesson”, play it with the help of dolls, drawings, a sandbox and miniature figures.

 © T.D.
