I will talk about the methods that I actively use: about painting with tea, coffee, watercolor and food coloring.

What paper to take?
I usually use 80gsm office printer paper for my notebooks. You can also take a thinner one – 65 g/sq.m. – paper for writing, it is very convenient to tint it, because often you can paint only one side, and the other will soak itself. If you need to make a sketch book or something like that, then drawing, watercolor or pastel paper comes into play.

How to dye coffee paper?

Strong coffee paper is tinted to obtain the effect of aged, yellowed paper from time to time. In addition, coffee gives the paper a pleasant warm coffee aroma. For painting, you can use both instant and ground coffee. For additional flavoring, you can add a little ground cinnamon to your coffee.
For 0.5 l. water you need to take 2 tablespoons of instant coffee. Or three tablespoons of ground (it must be poured with boiling water and set for 30-40 minutes).

How to dye paper with tea?
The cheaper the tea, the more different colorants it contains, the more suitable it is for our business, for paper toning. Strong tea gives about the same color as coffee, slightly yellower and warmer. The main difference is that paper tinted with tea has no smell, unlike paper dyed with coffee. In a word, if you want to get aged paper of a characteristic yellowish tint, but you don’t need the smell of coffee, feel free to tint it with tea.
For 0.5 l. water you need two or three bags, pour boiling water, let it brew for 30-40 minutes, until it cools completely.

How to paint paper with watercolors?

Want bright colors? Nothing could be easier – watercolor is great for painting paper in all the colors of the rainbow. A soft goat brush and watercolor are what you need to get truly saturated colors. The painting process is exactly the same as in the art lessons at school: a brush in your hands and go! It should be remembered that some types of watercolor are painted after drying, so watercolors will have to be chosen by trial and error. From myself I can say that I paint with watercolors “White Nights”, it does not stain after drying.

How to dye paper with food coloring?
Food coloring gives a softer and more even tone than watercolor, so sometimes I use them.

You need to dissolve a small amount of dye powder in water, the amount of powder depends on how intense the color you want to get. I prefer dyes for airy, light, transparent colors, so the consumption is very small.

IN

How to paint paper?
I prefer to paint with a thick and soft goat brush. It does not scratch even thin paper and is very affordable. Through experience, I came to the conclusion that it is faster and more accurate to paint with a brush than to soak the sheets entirely in a tray with a dye solution. And there are fewer stained surfaces.
I paint like this: I spread newspapers (a lot of newspapers) on the floor, I dilute the right amount of strong coffee / tea in a jar, I paint the sheets on one side, I put them to dry on newspapers. When the sheets are completely dry (dry for 15-20 minutes, you can wash the dishes or go for bread), paint on the other side and leave to dry again. (With)

A series of messages ” MK Notebooks “:
Part 1 – Block for a notebook on a sewing machine
Part 2 – Block for a notebook – Japanese binding
Part 3 – Block for a notebook – Coptic binding
Part 4 – How to color paper

[1000

post-25894","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-art-therapy
["GET
