Dolls have been used in purposeful therapeutic practice since the beginning of the 20th century. As early as 1926, neurologist Malcolm Wright used puppetry to treat neuroses. It was also discovered that dolls help restore the musculoskeletal system. Children and adults suffering from various diseases of this type (for example, cerebral palsy) are gradually rehabilitated with the help of puppets (during rehearsals).

In 1917–1922 the first Soviet puppeteers began to work and create methods in many areas: improving the health of children, eliminating stuttering, rehabilitation after severe stress, education, treatment of children with limited movement. One of the most effective forms of work is “puppet theater”. This method works especially well with children. “Performance” can be played out both in a group and in individual work. The plot can be specially written for a given situation or selected from well-known plays and fairy tales that are suitable in content.

For the development of the emotional sphere, there is a special set of six dolls of the same type with different facial expressions: sadness, joy, calmness, anger, fear, surprise. The patient puts one doll on his hand, then another, and with the appropriate intonation says neutral phrases like “Good afternoon” or “What time is it?”.

In addition to “puppet theatre,” the process of making the puppet itself can contribute to therapeutic work. For example, the technique of creating a planar doll is used. A “doll” is cut out of thick cardboard, personifying, for example, the client’s fear. Then it is hung on a thin rope or thread and the person gets the opportunity to control his fear.

You can do puppet therapy at home. Armed with knowledge about the seriousness of games and dolls, it is worth taking a closer look at what and how the child plays. You can keep him company, or you can put on a puppet show (with children or in a purely adult composition) or make a doll with your own hands.

 http://samopoznanie.ru/schools/kukloterapiya/#ixzz48LlYQsDw

[1000

post-25462","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-art-therapy
["GET
